Off the Beaten Path : Year One
Back in January, when I switched my blog focus to travel photography and photographers, I knew I was venturing out on a limb. It had been years since I'd written a travel piece and the last two years proved I was a sporadic blogger at best. But I took the chance that I could somehow incite others to follow along with me and share my excitement for the two most enduringly enriching parts of my life.
With 'Off the Beaten Path', I've explored or revisited places that struck my fancy. Like me, it's an eclectic mix of experiences and not easily categorized. I'm unapologetically curious and my only regret is not having more hands and hours in the day to go, see, and do.
Wandering Eye gave me the chance to really focus on one destination (New Orleans, Louisiana) beyond a weekend and enjoy a sensory bonanza that's still rattling around in my brain. In the coming months, I'll be opening even more doors and sharing what I find inside.
Travel Talks, I'll be honest, wasn't even planned but evolved out of my curiosity (yes, that again) to find out more about how travel photographers approach their art and craft. I interviewed three gracious photographers who are unknown to each other and separated by geography, experience, and audience but all similarly driven to capture, relate to, and reflect the world around us.
My hope for 2014 is that we'll all continue to be inspired and awestruck by what we see through the lens whether across the street or on the other side of the world.
Happy New Year from (Inside) Incite Photography!
